About This Course

This is a structured, self-paced course for studying the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS) -- one of the foundational classical texts of Jyotish (Vedic astrology). The edition used throughout is the Girish Chand Sharma translation published by Sagar Publications.

The course works straight through the text, chapter by chapter, building each new idea on the ones already covered rather than jumping around by topic. Every claim made along the way is checked against the source itself, not against general convention or outside teachings.

How the material is organized

Each chapter of study is broken into a short sequence of parts:

• Lesson -- introduces the chapter's ideas alongside the relevant BPHS verses.
• Workbook -- recall, understanding, and application questions to check comprehension.
• Application -- guided exercises connecting the theory to a real chart, including a Chart Clinic that walks through applying the ideas to an actual case.
• Quiz -- a short check before moving on to the next chapter.

Related chapters are grouped into modules, modules are grouped into semesters, and each semester ends with a Review and an Assessment covering everything studied so far. A running Reflection log and a growing Reference Library of practical notes and terminology round out the course.
