5. Homework — Chart Observation and Application¶

Exercise 5A — Simplified Calculation. Given: Saturn's house-spashta 5s 20°00′00″; Gulika's house-spashta 2s 8°00′00″; 9th-house spashta 7s 0°00′00″; Lagna-spashta 3s 0°00′00″. Compute Saturn − Gulika, then 9th house − Lagna, add both differences, and convert to months/days per the lesson's interpretation rule.
Exercise 5B — Reproduce the Book's Own Example. Using the values from Lesson §5.2 (Saturn = 7s29°15′40″, Gulika = 6s24°50′20″, 9th house = 2s15°50′26″, Lagna = 6s17°20′17″), work through all four steps by hand and confirm you arrive at the same total the book states (9s02°55′29″).
Exercise 5C — Reasoning Check. If the Ascendant lord in Exercise 5A's chart happens to be in the invisible half, and the Moon has traversed 12° in her current sign, what would the final adjusted total be?
Exercise 5D — Your Own Chart. If you have your own Saturn and Gulika positions from Module 2, and know your Ascendant and 9th-house cusp, attempt your own Nisheka Lagna calculation. If the data isn't available, note that honestly rather than estimating.

- 9th house − Lagna: 7s0° − 3s0° = 4s0°00′00″.
- Total: 3s12° + 4s0° = 7s12°00′00″.
- 7 months, 12 days.
§5B — Reproduce the Book's Own Example
Saturn − Gulika: 7s29°15′40″ − 6s24°50′20″ = 1s04°25′20″. 9th house − Lagna: since Lagna (6s17°20′17″) > 9th house (2s15°50′26″) in raw terms, add 12s to the minuend: (2s15°50′26″ + 12s) − 6s17°20′17″ = 14s15°50′26″ − 6s17°20′17″ = 7s28°30′09″. Total: 1s04°25′20″ + 7s28°30′09″ = 9s02°55′29″ — matches the book's stated result exactly.

Chart Clinic¶

Before You Begin¶
Unlike earlier Chart Clinics, this one is genuinely hard to test against known life history — you cannot usually independently verify your own conception date. This Chart Clinic is scoped to calculation accuracy, not life-outcome verification. If you don't have your own computed Saturn and Gulika positions from Module 2, mark this "Deferred — insufficient prerequisite data" rather than forcing it.
Step 0 — Calculate (if data permits)¶
Using your own Saturn, Gulika, Ascendant, and 9th-house positions, attempt the Nisheka Lagna calculation.
