Module Test: S01-M03 — Zodiacal Signs Described (Ch. 4)

Cumulative test for Module 3 — checks whether sign classification, individual sign profiles, and Nisheka Lagna are held as one integrated system (and correctly kept separate from Module 2's planet-level system), not three disconnected lessons.

Part 1 — Definitions

1. Define: Kālapuruṣa.

Part 2 — Classification

1. Classify Scorpio: modal type, sign-level benefic/malefic status, gender, dhātu-triplicity (per Ch. 4).

Part 3 — Comparison

1. Compare planet-level benefic/malefic (Ch. 3 v.11, Module 2) with sign-level benefic/malefic (Ch. 4 v.5). Are they the same system applied to different objects, or fully independent systems that happen to share vocabulary? Justify from the text.

Part 4 — Source Finding

1. Locate the exact verse for the Kalapurusha-limb correspondence table. Give chapter and verse.
2. Locate the exact verse where BPHS states which sign each of the 12 signs' lord is. (If this is spread across multiple verses rather than one, say so.)

Part 5 — Rule Explanation

1. Explain why Nisheka Lagna requires an "invisible half" adjustment, and what triggers it.

Part 6 — Correction of False Statements

For each statement, identify what is wrong and state the correct version with its source.

1. "Every one of the 12 signs has an explicitly stated rising type in this edition of BPHS."

Part 7 — Practical Application

1. Using the seven-step Chart Clinic structure, briefly outline (2–3 sentences per step, not a full clinic) how you would test the claim "my Ascendant sign's classification matches my known temperament" — name at least one piece of evidence you'd actively look for that could contradict the claim, not just confirm it.

Part 8 — Short Synthesis

1. In one paragraph, explain how a sign's classification (Ch. 4) and a planet's dignity (Ch. 3) work together — and separately — when that planet occupies that sign. Use a specific example (a real planet-sign pair) to ground your answer.

7. Wrong. Scorpio's rising type is not stated in this edition — the sole exception among the 12 signs. Source: Ch. 4 v.15–16½. ⚠ Answering with the conventional Jyotish rising-type for Scorpio from outside knowledge is itself the error this question tests for.

Part 7 — Practical Application

8. No fixed answer. Full credit requires: (a) a genuine attempt at the seven-step structure in brief, and (b) at least one specific piece of contradicting evidence actively sought, not just confirming evidence restated. Answers that only list confirming evidence should be marked for revision, per this course's standing Chart Clinic review standard.

Part 8 — Short Synthesis

9. No fixed answer. A strong response names a specific planet-sign pair (e.g., Saturn in Capricorn: own-sign dignity per Ch. 3 v.51–54, and Capricorn is Saturn's Kalapurusha-linked, Tamoguni, earth-associated sign per Ch. 4 — two independently-derived systems that happen to agree here) and explicitly states that the two systems are evaluated by separate rules even when their conclusions align. A response that only describes one system, or that implies the sign classification determines the planet's dignity (or vice versa), should be marked for revision — the whole point of this module is that these are parallel, not causally linked, layers. ⚠ The most common weak answer restates both systems' facts without ever addressing how they combine or stay separate — the synthesis is the actual thing being graded, not the recall.
