๐ Lesson โ ๐ Workbook โ ๐ Application โ โ Quiz
5. Homework โ Chart Observation and Application¶
Skill level: Recall / classification, plus applied observation on your own chart.
Exercise 5A โ Build a Personal Reference Table. Write out all twelve houses with their significations from memory, then check against Lesson ยง5.1.
Exercise 5B โ Signification Matching. For each life-topic below, name the correct house per Ch. 13 v.2โ13:
- Mother's happiness
- Wife's brother
- Step-mother
- Debts
- Son's wife
Exercise 5C โ Running Chart Lab. For one house in your own D1 chart (your choice), note:
- What occupies it (planets, if any).
- What aspects it (using both Ch. 9 aspect systems).
- Whether, per the occupation/aspect half of v.14โ16's rule (ignoring Avastha, not yet taught), this house looks like it's prospering or afflicted.
Exercise 5D โ 10th House Observation Only. From your own D1 chart, note what occupies your 10th house and what (if anything) aspects it โ no interpretation yet, just accurate observation. (This is a narrower drill than 5C: one specific house, observation only, no rule applied.)
Exercise 5E โ Reasoning Check. Even after completing 5C, why can't you fully apply v.14โ16's rule yet? What specific piece is missing?
Chart Clinic. Lesson S01-M07-L01: Judgement of Houses โ Significations and the Prosperity/Affliction Rule โ Application โ Stage 1: pick one house from your own chart whose real-life outcome (in that house's signified domain) you already know well, and reason through the full seven-step chain (Observation โ Principle โ Supporting Evidence โ Contradicting Evidence โ Interpretation โ Confidence โ Reflection). Only the occupation/aspect half of v.14โ16's rule can be applied โ the Avastha half is forward-referenced to Ch. 47 and not usable yet; the Chart Clinic asks you to note that limitation honestly rather than guess at Avastha.
6. Reflection Questions¶
(For your journal. No single right answer.)
- Now that you've seen all twelve houses' significations at once, does anything about the overall pattern (which topics cluster together) strike you as meaningful?
- This lesson deliberately withholds Avastha (Ch. 47). Does not fully understanding one piece of a stated rule bother you, or does it feel manageable given the course's pacing philosophy?
- In one short paragraph, explain why BPHS might place a short signification-list chapter (Ch. 13) before the twelve much longer house-effects chapters (Ch. 14โ25) rather than folding this material into Ch. 14 directly. (Journal your own take before checking ยง9's model answer to U4.)
Check Answers โ Chart Observations & Application
ยง5A โ Build a Personal Reference Table
No fixed answer โ self-check against Lesson ยง5.1's full table.
ยง5B โ Signification Matching
- 4th house (mother's happiness).
- 9th house (wife's brother).
- 6th house (step-mother).
- 10th house (debts).
- 11th house (son's wife).
ยง5C โ Running Chart Lab
No fixed answer โ self-recorded from your own chart. Self-check that you correctly identified occupants and aspects using both Ch. 9 aspect systems, and that your prospering/afflicted call follows only the occupation/aspect half of v.14โ16 (not Avastha, which isn't available yet).
ยง5D โ 10th House Observation Only
No fixed answer โ self-recorded from your own chart. This exercise stops at observation; no prospering/afflicted call is expected here.
ยง5E โ Reasoning Check
The Avastha (state) portion of v.14โ16's rule cannot yet be applied, because Avasthas are not taught until Ch. 47 (Semester 2) โ this lesson explicitly forward-references that concept rather than teaching it now.
Next module: S1-M8 (Ch. 36 โ Yoga Karakas, functional benefic/malefic), Semester 1's capstone module before the S1-M4โM8 cluster test.
Chart Clinic¶
Chart used: my own natal chart Stage: 1 โ The Mirror. Only the occupation/aspect half of v.14โ16's rule can be applied โ the Avastha half is forward-referenced to Ch. 47 (Semester 2) and not usable yet. Note this limitation honestly rather than guessing at Avastha.
Step 0 โ Look Up¶
Pick one house from your own chart whose real-life outcome (in that house's signified domain) you already know well.
Steps 1โ7 โ Full Reasoning Chain¶
| Step | Your entry |
|---|---|
| 1. Observation โ what occupies and aspects your chosen house | |
| 2. Relevant BPHS Principle โ that house's signification (Ch. 13 v.2โ13) and the occupation/aspect half of the prosperity rule (v.14โ16) | |
| 3. Supporting Evidence โ from your own known life history, does the occupation/aspect picture align with a "prospering" or "afflicted" reading? | |
| 4. Contradicting Evidence โ actively look for it | |
| 5. Interpretation โ your reasoned conclusion, given both 3 and 4, and given that the Avastha half of the rule is unavailable | |
| 6. Confidence Level โ strong / probable / tentative / speculative (necessarily capped below "strong," since half the stated rule isn't testable yet) | |
| 7. Reflection โ how much does missing the Avastha half of the rule actually limit your confidence, in this specific case? |
Source Citation¶
Cite Ch. 13, the specific verse for your chosen house's signification (v.2โ13) and v.14โ16 for the prosperity rule.
Self-Review Before Submitting¶
- Every principle cited traces to today's actual assigned reading
- Contradicting evidence was genuinely sought, not skipped
- Confidence level honestly reflects that only half the stated rule (occupation/aspect, not Avastha) was applied
- No conclusion is stated more strongly than the evidence supports
This is reviewed for: correct application of the available half of the rule, honest acknowledgment of the missing Avastha component, and no overclaiming.
