It shares its name with the graha Ketu but is a differently-computed shadow point from an unrelated formula; track it by explicitly labeling it "chain-Ketu" or similar in your own notes to avoid confusing it with the lunar node.
Day and night durations are generally unequal (except at the equinoxes) and are governed by different portion-lord sequences per the translator's method — a single formula couldn't correctly handle both without this split.
