  4. Jīvātmā-aṁśa = the individual soul's portion within a being; paramātmā-aṁśa = the Supreme Soul's portion. Every being carries both, in differing proportions (v.21–22).
  5. Because astrology is predictive and consequential — it can be misused — so BPHS ethically gates its transmission to those of sound character; implies the astrologer bears real responsibility, not just technical competence.
  6. Per Ch. 1 v.21–24, BPHS's own cosmology treats the grahas as carrying a predominance of paramātmā-aṁśa — i.e., they are conscious, karma-delivering agents by the text's own claim, not inert symbols; "just symbolism" is not the position BPHS itself takes.
