Module 6 Reflection Questions — Aspects of Signs and Planets¶
(For your journal, not a graded exercise — see your Research Journal. No single right answer. These ask you to synthesize across this module's own material; they do not repeat Lesson 1's own Workbook reflection questions §6, which stay closer to the single-chapter level.)

The sign-aspect rule (Rashi Drishti) determines what a sign or planet aspects based on triplicity membership (movable/fixed/dual), while the planetary-aspect rule (Graha Drishti) counts houses directly from a planet's own position, independent of what type of sign it sits in. Pick a single planet's placement and walk through, in your own words, what "aspect" would mean if you only had Rashi Drishti versus only had Graha Drishti for that placement. Where could the two systems agree, and where could they point at completely different signs or houses from the same starting position? Use this to explain why BPHS treats these as two separate tools rather than one master system refined over the course of the chapter.

This chapter gives two diagrams for illustrating the very same sign-aspect rule, and the translator names an explicit preference ("the prevalent diagram is the one given by us") while also disclosing that at least one other published edition of BPHS draws the same rule differently. What does it tell you about this source's own editorial history that a translator would disclose a competing tradition rather than silently picking one and staying quiet about the other? Given that a diagram is only a visual restatement of a rule already given in words (v.1–5), what should a diagram be doing for you as a study tool, and what should it never be allowed to do (e.g., quietly introduce a rule the verse text itself doesn't state)?

This lesson's "How Today's Lesson Fits Into Complete Chart Analysis" section notes that later Yoga chapters (Ch. 37–44, Semester 3) define many yogas partly by which planet "aspects" which house or planet. Using only what this module itself establishes about graduated (paada) aspect strength, if a future yoga definition simply states that a planet "aspects" a given house without further qualification, what question would this module now equip you to ask before assuming that yoga applies at full strength? You are not being asked to resolve any yoga rule here — only to identify, from today's material alone, the question you now know to ask that you would not have known to ask before this lesson.
