Module Chart Clinic: Module 1 — Foundations of Creation

Chapters covered: Ch. 1 (The Creation), Ch. 2 (Great Incarnations of the Lord) Chart used: your own natal chart, at the level of planetary identity only (no positions needed yet)

1. Learning Purpose

Module 1 has no per-lesson Chart Clinic — both S1-M1-L1 and S1-M1-L2 are pre-technical, with no single testable chart factor yet (see this course's Deferred/N/A tracking conventions). This capstone is deliberately not the usual seven-step chart-factor test. Instead it asks you to state, in your own words and grounded in citations, the premise every later Chart Clinic in this course silently depends on — before you start actually testing planets against your life.

2. Concepts Being Tested

  • Why grahas can signify anything at all (Ch. 1 v.21–24, paramātmā-aṁśa).
  • The nine graha–avatāra pairings and the Pūrṇa/partial distinction (Ch. 2 v.2, v.5–7).
  • The source-labeling discipline (Explicit / Translator commentary / Procedural / Inferred / Requires verification / Not located) applied to a real claim.

3. Guided Synthesis Sequence

Answer each in turn, citing chapter and verse for every factual claim:

  1. State the premise. In your own words, what does BPHS claim about the grahas that makes chart-reading possible at all? Cite the verse.
  2. Make it concrete. Name your own Ascendant lord (or any planet you already know is prominent in your chart) and its avatāra pairing from Ch. 2. Is it one of the four Pūrṇāvatāras, or one of the five carrying jīvāṁśa?
  3. Hold the distinction. Does knowing your planet's Pūrṇa/partial status suggest anything about its role in your life, per BPHS's own text — or would that be overclaiming, given what Ch. 2 actually says (and doesn't say) about what Pūrṇa/partial status implies?
  4. Classify a claim. Pick one sentence from your own answer to #1 or #2 above and label it using the course's source-classification system. Justify the label.

4. Expected Reasoning

There is no chart-factor "result" to check here — this capstone is reviewed for whether the synthesis correctly traces back to Ch. 1–2's actual verse content (not outside Jyotish knowledge), and whether the Pūrṇa/partial distinction is held at the confidence level BPHS itself gives it (a real but narrow classification, not a general strength ranking — that's Ch. 29, much later).

5. Answers / Model Reasoning

6. Reflection / Error-Check

  • Did every factual claim you made trace to an actual verse, not to outside astrology knowledge?
  • Did you resist the temptation to treat "Pūrṇa" as if it already meant "stronger" in the technical Shadbala sense? (It doesn't — that equivalence isn't stated in Ch. 1–2, and is explicitly flagged as a memory hook, not a rule, in Lesson 2's §2.)
  • Record your biggest open question in your personal Research Journal.
