Module Chart Clinic: Module 5 — Special Ascendants and the Sixteen Vargas

1. Learning Purpose

Module 5's four lessons cover genuinely different tools — special Lagnas, a dasha-adjacent technique (deferred), a conceptual map of sixteen divisional charts, and house classification plus the alternate-ascendant technique. This capstone integrates the three lessons with live Chart Clinics (L1, L3, L4) into one combined pass, leaving L2's deferred Varnada Dasha untouched exactly as it's deferred at the lesson level.

2. Concepts Being Tested

  • Special Ascendants: Bhava, Hora, and Ghati Lagna (L1, Ch. 6 v.1–16).
  • Which Varga to consult for a specific life-topic question (L3, Ch. 8 v.1–8).
  • House classification (Kendra/Panaphara/Apoklima, Trikona, Trik-sthana, Upachaya) and the planets-as-alternate-ascendants technique (L4, Ch. 8 v.33–43).

3. Guided Analysis Sequence

  1. Compute or note your Hora Lagna and Ghati Lagna (L1) if you have the birth-time precision required.
  2. Classify the house your natal Ascendant lord occupies (Kendra/Panaphara/Apoklima, plus Trikona/Trik-sthana/Upachaya where applicable) (L4).
  3. Pick one alternate ascendant relevant to a real question you have (e.g., Surya Lagna for a father-related question, Chandra Lagna for a general question) and apply the same house-classification lens from that new starting point (L4).
  4. Name which Varga (from L3's sixteen) you'd want to examine next for that same question, and why, per Ch. 8's stated use-table.

  • Cite the exact verse for each technique used.
  • Does classifying the same house from two different starting points (natal Ascendant vs. an alternate ascendant) change how you'd read it? Note the difference without resolving it — full interpretation of alternate-ascendant house effects isn't taught until Semester 2.

5. Expected Reasoning

Full seven-step Chart Clinic chain for at least one of Special Ascendants (L1) or the Alternate Ascendant technique (L4) — your choice of which factor you have the clearest known-outcome test for.
